The first 3D modeling assignment for the semester is complete! For this project, I chose to model a compound bow made from antlers. The difficult part with this design was making something that looked like it could be functional, but also have an interesting silhouette. I had to restart this project several times due to design challenges and technical issues, so this is the final product given the shortened time-frame.
I modeled the bow in Maya 2016 and textured it in Substance Painter. Substance was new to me for this project so it took a lot of trial and error to figure out the program as well as what looked best for my project.
Finally, the bow with textures was imported into Unreal Engine 4 where the final project was lit. The final renders are shown above.
